Have listened to Waving Goodbye a few times now. The lyrics work well, much stronger sung than read, which I guess was the idea. My favourites are Jack of Diamonds (nice to hear your playing) and Papa Stay and Fight. I'm still not warm to Dennis' vocal personality. Oh well. I know some benighted souls struggled similarly with the majestic Firestone vocal delivery! How did the show go? I liked the promo film.

I'm glad the CD finally made it; I was becoming a regular at the Albany post office. The show was fun, highlighted by attendance by Papa Firestone, dropping by on his way from Deep Creek to British Columbia.
James said the same thing about how much better the lyrics work when sung than just read, but of course that's what they're supposed to do. I think Dennis is right up there with Peter and Stephin Merritt as a writer of catchy melodies, and they're what make the lyrics go. But I'll probably keep posting the stuff I write here because, you know, why not. I'm working on one now about words that start with the letter X that I'm hoping to license to Sesame Street.
