The Captain passed away today.  Oddly enough, I'll be meeting with some people this weekend to discuss playing tuba in a Beefheart tribute band.

I heard this news from Rick R and Steve B yesterday. They both sound good. Steve is in Philadelphia and I will see him sometime soon. In other news, the girls come home tonight!!

whistling hollow, well, well

I read the news on my Blackberry in the car driving to lunch with Indi, Mira, and Jai. We were celebrating Mira's acceptance at college: Barnard in NYC. She's excited, as are we. Guess it means I'll be spending more time in the States in the next four or five years. This summer's plans are still on the drawing board. Is there someplace we can get together and jam for a couple of days?
After lunch, went home and listened to Trout Mask. Still wonder at it. Can't forget the image of Chris Brinkley (the long hair from Carolina, I think) lying on the Randall Hallway floor, waving his arms and reaching towards the ceiling, the light, repeating "More of those, more of those". And hitchhiking to NYC once with Jim and once with Mike Coss to see the Captain and the Magic Band, once on Long Island and once in Manhattan.
Ah, 17.
Woe is uh a me bop, om drop a rebop om.

Exciting news about Mira!! My girls just got home from visiting all of their pals at NYU. I look forward to seeing you all soon!!I'll be out of my house by Springtime, with more freedom to roam (the East Coast, at least).
